California Web Tools

As part of the state's web portal redesign efforts, the California State Portal team initiated a project to define state-wide web standards, including the standards for usability, accessibility, branding, look and feel, and separation of content from presentation. The state invited SymSoft to create a online resource guide (toolbox) to guide the state webmasters in implementing these standards in their agency / department websites.

SymSoft created the WebTools - the online resource guide that provides tools and techniques, implementation guidelines and industry best practices, templates and code snippets for the state webmasters. It also provides specific resources and information for Web Usability and Accessibility including World Wide consortium (W3C) standards, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 compliance requirements. SymSoft collaborated with over 12 stakeholder groups, and gathered input from over 100 webmasters. We designed and developed the website and validated the pages for standards compliance.
