CalOHII AB-211 Case Management and Tracking System

Effective January 1, 2009, the Assembly Bill 211 (AB 211) required every health care provider to implement appropriate safeguards to protect the privacy of a patient’s medical information from unauthorized or unlawful access, use, or disclosure. The enactment of AB 211 bill established the California Office of Health Information Integrity (CalOHII) to assess and impose administrative fines for a violation of these provisions.

SymSoft designed and developed a web application and database system to track reported privacy violations (complaints) and associated investigations. The web-based solution allows the general public to report medical privacy violation cases and allows CalOHII to then manage and track those cases throughout their lifecycle. The system provides:

  • Role-based access control
  • Comprehensive searching, sorting and reporting
  • Dashboards with charts and graphs
  • Workflow functionality
