Intranet Usability Testing and Redesign

The California Department of Technology Services (now the California Technology Agency) engaged SymSoft to provide consulting services to assist them with their Intranet Redesign, to meet the evolving and expanding role of the agency as a technology leader in California State government. The redesign was intended to enhance employee productivity and better achieve the agency's overall goals, and involved consolidation of multiple intranet sites within the agency.

SymSoft's team conducted content analysis of their Intranet sites, analyzed user needs and expectations through a series of interviews, conducted usability analysis and usability testing, redesigned the information architecture, and provided CMS analysis and recommendations. We also provided governance framework for the agency to maintain the Intranet as a viable and relevant tool for the agency staff. SymSoft also provided consulting for implementing the intranet using SharePoint 2007.
