Wifi Bus provides real-time locations of Wifi buses to its users through its client app. For bus operators, the app allows them to broadcast their real-time locations to our users via the operator app. Our website and/or the app keeps you as up to date as possible on Sacramento Wifi buses, including scheduling and events.
Scope of this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes our policies on the collection, use, and disclosure of information about you in connection with your use of our services, including those offered through our websites, emails, and mobile applications (collectively, the “Service”). The terms “we”, “us”, and “Wifi Bus” refer to SymSoft Solutions, Inc., a California Limited Liability Company with its headquarters in Sacramento, California. This privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”) explains how we collect, use, and share information from Wifi Bus users (“Users”), comprised of both those who use our services to locate Wifi buses (“Customers”) and Wifi bus operators who broadcast their locations to them (“Operators”). When you use the Service, you consent to our collection, use, and disclosure of information about you as described in this Privacy Policy. Beyond the Privacy Policy, your use of Wifi Bus is also subject to our Terms of Service.
Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide to Us
Registration Information. When you sign up for a Wifi Bus account, you give us your name, email address, and phone number.
User Profile Information. Filling out a profile (such as your photo or avatar) is optional, and you may share as little or as much as you want. Your name is always part of your profile.
Communications. If you contact us directly, we may receive additional information about you. For example, when you contact us through the “Contact” link on the website, we may receive your name and email address, the contents of a message or attachments that you may send to us, and other information you choose to provide.
B. Information We Collect When You Use the Wifi Bus Mobile Application
Location Information. Wifi Bus is all about locating available Wifi buses. To do this, we need to know where you are. When you open Wifi Bus on your mobile device, we receive your location. We may also collect the precise location of your device when the app is running in the foreground or background.
Your location information is necessary for things like finding the nearest Wifi bus, and automatically displaying them on your mobile device. Also, if the need ever arises, our safety team may use and share location information to help protect the safety of Wifi Bus Users or a member of the public.
Device Information. Wifi Bus receives information from Users’ devices, including IP address, web browser type, mobile operating system version, phone carrier and manufacturer, application installations, device identifiers, mobile advertising identifiers, and push notification tokens.
Usage Information. To help us understand how you use Wifi Bus and to help us improve it, we automatically receive information about your interactions with the mobile application, like the content you view, your actions within the app, and the dates and times of your visits.
Call and Text Information. Phone calls and text messages between Operators and Wifi Bus who have been connected will happen through the device’s carrier. During the registration or login process, a third-party provider will be used for sending automated one-time passwords.
User Feedback. Users may add Wifi buses to their favorites list. We may use this information to suggest other Wifi buses to our users.
C. Information We Collect When You Use the Wifi Bus Website
We, and third parties with whom we partner, may use cookies, web beacons, tags, scripts, local shared objects such as HTML5 and Flash (sometimes called “flash cookies”), advertising identifiers (including mobile identifiers such as Apple’s IDFA or Google’s Advertising ID) and similar technology (“Cookies”) in connection with your use of the Service, third party websites, and mobile applications. Cookies may have unique identifiers, and reside, among other places, on your computer or mobile device, in emails we send to you, and on our web pages. Cookies may transmit information about you and your use of the Service, such as your browser type, search preferences, IP address, data relating to advertisements that have been displayed to you or that you have clicked on, and the date and time of your use. Cookies may be persistent or stored only during an individual session.
The purposes for which we use Cookies in the Service include:
Processes. Intended to make the Service work in the way you expect. For example, we use a Cookie that tells us whether you have already signed up for an account.
Authentication, Security, and Compliance. Intended to prevent fraud, protect your data from unauthorized parties, and comply with legal requirements. For example, we use Cookies to determine if you are logged in.
Preferences. Intended to remember information about how you prefer the Service to behave and look. For example, we use a Cookie that tells us whether you have declined to allow us to send push notifications to your phone.
Notifications. Intended to allow or prevent notices of information or options that we think could improve your use of the Service. For example, we use a Cookie that stops us from showing you the signup notification if you have already seen it.
Advertising. Intended to make advertising more relevant to users and more valuable to advertisers. For example, we may use Cookies to serve you interest-based ads, such as ads that are displayed to you based on your visits to other websites, or to tell us if you have recently clicked on an ad.
Analytics. Intended to help us understand how visitors use the Service. For example, we use a Cookie that tells us how our search suggestions correlate to your interactions with the search page.
You can set some Cookie preferences through your device or browser settings, but doing so may affect the functionality of the Service. The method for disabling Cookies may vary by device and browser, but can usually be found in your device or browser preferences or security settings. For example, iOS and Android devices each have settings which are designed to limit forms of ad tracking. For flash cookies, you can manage your privacy settings by clicking here. Please note that changing any of these settings does not prevent the display of certain advertisements to you.
D. Information We Collect from Third Parties
Third-Party Partners. We may receive additional information about you, such as demographic data, or fraud detection information, from third party partners and combine it with other information that we have about you.
How We Use the Information We Collect
We use the information we collect from all Users to:
- Connect users with Wifi buses;
- Provide, improve, expand, and promote Wifi Bus;
- Analyze how the Users utilize the Wifi Bus app;
- Communicate with you, either directly or through one of our partners, including for marketing and promotional purposes;
- Send you text messages and push notifications;
- Provide you with customer support; and
- Find and prevent fraud.
How We Share the Information We Collect
A. Sharing Between Users
Sharing between users and Wifi bus operators. Users are able to see information about Wifi buses, such as names, descriptions, photos, and any information the Wifi bus operators have added to their Profiles. Users see the Operator’s real-time location as the Operator approaches their scheduled location. Operators can see which users have favorited them.
Although we help users locate Wifi buses, we do not share user’s actual phone number or other contact information with other users or the operator.
B. Sharing Between Wifi Bus and Third Parties
We may share your information with third parties in the following cases:
- While negotiating or in relation to a change of corporate control such as a restructuring, merger or sale of our assets;
- If a government authority requests information and we think disclosure is required or appropriate in order to comply with laws, regulations, or a legal process;
- With law enforcement officials, government authorities, or third parties if we think doing so is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Wifi Bus or the public;
- To comply with a legal requirement or process, including but not limited to, civil and criminal subpoenas, court orders or other compulsory disclosures.
- To provide information about the use of Wifi Bus to potential business partners in aggregated or de-identified form that can’t reasonably be used to identify you; and
- Whenever you consent to the sharing.
Your Choices
Email Subscriptions. You can always unsubscribe from our commercial or promotional emails but we will still send you transactional and relational emails about your account use of Wifi Bus.
Text Messages. You can opt out of receiving commercial or promotional text messages. However, we will still send you transactional and relational text messages about your account use of Wifi Bus.
Push Notifications. You can opt out of receiving push notifications through your device settings. Please note that opting out of receiving push notifications may impact your use of Wifi Bus (such as receiving a notification when your favorite bus is nearby).
Wifi Bus Profile Information. Customers will always be able to see a Wifi bus’ name, description, schedule, photos, and other information provided by bus operators and Wifi Bus.
Location Information. As a Customer, if you prevent your device from sharing location information at any time through your Device’s operating system settings, you will be presented with all Wifi buses located in Sacramento, not just ones near your location. As an Operator, if you prevent your device from sharing location information, it will not be broadcasted to Customers. However, allowing location information to be shared provides the most optimal experience when using the Wifi Bus mobile application.
Editing and Accessing Your Information. If you would like to terminate your Wifi Bus account, please contact us. If you choose to terminate your account, we will deactivate it for you but may retain information from your account for a certain period of time and disclose it in a manner consistent with our practices under this Privacy Policy for accounts that are not closed. We also may retain information from your account to troubleshoot problems, analyze usage of the Wifi Bus app, assist with any investigations, prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, or take other actions as required or permitted by law.
Other
Data Security. We are committed to protecting the data of the Customers and Operators who use Wifi Bus. Even though we take reasonable precautions to protect your data, no security measures can be 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your data.
Children’s Privacy. Wifi Bus is not directed to children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we find out that a child under 13 has given us personal information, we will take steps to delete that information. If you believe that a child under the age of 13 has given us personal information, please contact us.
Changes to Our Privacy Policy. We may make changes to this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make any material changes, we will let you know through email or other communication. We encourage you to read this Privacy Policy periodically to stay up-to-date about our privacy practices. As long as you use Wifi Bus, you are agreeing to this Privacy Policy and any updates we make to it.
